Talaveras

This painting series titled ‘Talaveras’ is inspired by the incredibly detailed and elaborate patterns of Mexico’s ceramic art form: Talavera. This historic ceramic tradition emerged in Mexico through the colonial period becoming a staple to Mexican cities like Puebla, where authentic Talavera techniques continue to thrive. Each painting holds recognizable Talavera patterns and symbols that can be found through the use of mystical animals.
